Key Points for a Safe and Effective Exercise

In every exercise chapter, this section presents the most important things you need to know when executing the exercises that follow in order to avoid injury. It teaches the difference between right and wrong for every body part prone to injury. In some cases (such as for the squat), this is head to toe.

Here are some examples:

A.“Incorrect” vs. “Correct”: This is the most common type of key point we use to illustrate the difference between an incorrect position or movement and the correct one.

B.“Correct” vs. “Correct (preferred)”: When both methods are safe but there is a “preferred” method, we label the pictures clearly in this way.

C.“Exercises to be avoided”: Sometimes we picture exercises (or equipment) that we advise you to avoid at all costs.
